LEARNING ACTIVITY 8B
Redemption
In the previous Learning Activity we used the biblical word "redemption."
In this Learning Activity we shall attempt to provide a clearer understanding
of what that word means to the believer.
If a definition were to be drafted
for the word redemption, it would probably follow along the lines of "to be
set free from the control and results of sin on a person which separates them from
God through the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary thereby
permitting the restoration of that person to God Himself." The word has as its
meaning the action of purchasing or buying back something or paying the ransom for
something that is being held under alien control.
